UPDATE..........
From Tom Kittinger

At rehearsal on Sunday, there appeared to be some confusion regarding our upcoming "gigs" to close-out the 2007 season. Let me clear those up for you with the final schedule:

Saturday, October 13th - 9:00am - Millersville Univ/Comm Parade - it is important that we give them a much better turn-out than we've been having for our rehearsals. Please put this date on your calendars (it should already be there) and plan on joining us in Millersville. Parking will again be available at the Student Center on campus, or behind it, and a bus will be available to shuttle us to the parade start. Report Time Should Be Around 7:45am.

Directions:
- from Baltimore & South - take I-83N to Rt. 30E and follow "from Rt. 30" directions below

- from Harrisburg & West - take 283E, then follow "from Rt. 30" directions below

- from Routes 30: take the exit for Rt. 741E....follow 741E (Rohrerstown Rd) until it becomes Millersville Rd. About 4 miles beyond Rt. 30, turn right at the light at Rt. 999. After 2nd traffic light (after 741) watch fro the "fork" in the road and bear left onto George St. Follow George St. and after you cross W. Cottage Ave., you will be on campus...........follow past the Student Center to parking.

That should get you to Millersville, regardless of where you might be.................it is a well-attended parade, about 2-miles long, and always a very appreciative audience. PLAN ON JOINING US THERE!!!..............PLEASE!!!

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 21st - our FINAL REHEARSAL for the 2007 season. It will give us some time to continue work on Dick Burn's arrangement of "Pieces of Dreams" as well as "Serenade For Brass," our two new selections. It will also give us time to prepare our program for the G-burg H.S. "Band-A-Rama." Please plan on joining us. 2:00pm as always!

Sunday, October 28th - 2:00pm - York Halloween Parade - This is our first time at this parade in a long, long time, and it is our LAST parade of the 2007 season. It is also very well attended, and it is important for us to make a very good showing. I am hopeful I will have more details regarding line-up, parking, formation, etc. by the time we meet for rehearsal on the 21st. At present, all I have is a "Thank You" postcard acknowledging receipt of our registration.

Thursday, November 1st - 7:00pm - Gettysburg Band-O-Rama - I have no additional details regarding this right now. I believe it began last year around 7:00pm with us performing around 7:45. I am still waiting for additional details, but would assume they would be similar to last year - we could dress in the orchestra room, warm-up there, meet with the H.S. Band to rehearse "America" before they go on stage, and then move to the lobby of the auditorium closer to our performance time. Again, I hope to have more detailed information regarding this by our October 21st rehearsal.

Saturday, November 24th - 7:00pm - the annual Lancers Banquet will be held at the Legion. In the past, we have had a Social Hour from 6:00 - 7:00, dinner being served at 7:00, with awards, etc. taking place immediately following dinner and dancing following that. It will be necessary for you to have your deposit and reservation to Bill Reese by the York Halloween Parade (Oct. 28th) A deposit of $5.00 per person should accompany your reservation..............that deposit will be returned to you at the banquet, or you may choose to donate it to the corps for the Posie Pfaff Scholarship Fund, the Truman Crawford ALS Fund, or the Blaine Brown Children's Trust Fund. BTW................anyone that needs information regarding the Scholarship Fund, please contact Bill Reese at 637-1431, or bcdj@netrax.net

That should bring you up-to-date on EVERYTHING we have coming up in the next 2 months. The two parades in October will be FULL UNIFORM parades, so if you need any uniform parts, you need to be in contact with Martie Gourley VERY SOON!!! We will be in full uniform for the Band-A-Rama as well, perhaps minus the shako, although it might give us a nicer appearance to wear the shakos into the auditorium and then remove them once we are on stage..................we'll have to determine that in the next month.

Let's ALL make every possible effort to attend these final three "gigs" of the 2007 season.................remember......
EVERY TIME WE ARE IN THE PUBLIC'S EYE, WE ARE EXHIBITING THE LANCER "PRIDE," AND ALSO RECRUITING NEW MEMBERS THROUGH OUR PERFORMANCE!! The sound we can create with larger numbers is always more impressive!!

See you soon!

UPDATE..........
From Tom Kittinger

Rehearsal THIS SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 23rd at 2:00pm AT THE LEGION IN HANOVER.  There is a "new" warm-up piece to work on, and a Dick Burns arrangement of "Pieces of Dreams" to begin work on.

In case you didn't get the message from some time ago, Dick Burns was the horn instructor/arranger for  Blessed Sacrament for many years, and is now instructing the Florida Brass.   It will be interesting to look at some new arrangement techniques.

Jason Resh wanted me to tell you he has updated the Lancer web site with pictures from the Revolution game, and others, as well as the National Anthem, played at the Revolution game.  You can access the site at:  www.hanoverlancers.com or http://www.silverpennystudio.com/lancers/

I'm hopeful many of you will be able to attend the rehearsal.  It is one of our LAST of the 2007 season.  Even though I love you "guys" & "gals," I will be spending Sunday with family enjoying our very first "grandson," that was born Wednesday evening at 6:58pm.  He weighed in at 8lb 6 oz and was 21" long.  He is very healthy, and my daughter and her husband (as well as grandma and grandpa) are also doing well after the delivery.

I will be sending additional information regarding the Millersville University/Community Parade, scheduled for Saturday, October 13th at 9:00am, and also the York Halloween Parade, scheduled for Sunday, October 28th at 2:00pm, as I receive it.  Please mark your calendars and join us for these TWO FINAL PARADES of the 2007 marching season...............WE DO NEED YOUR HELP!!!

See you soon!

Tom
